The Parents make the big move!

My parents finally made the big move into assisted living. This has been something we have talked about and had been planning for years. Mother was finally ready and we all agreed it was the best thing for them and our family. We looked at a lot of places and finally found the right one. Ironically, they are only 6 minutes away from Barb & Jake's new home and about 20 for me and Bill. So far things are going well and everyone is adjusting. My dad likes to chat with everyone and seems really happy. My moms calendar seems to be filling up! I only want the best for them. I also hope my mom will meet some new friends and I will see the social butterfly that she is come out again! :)

This is at the new place in their room.

This was moving day. This picture was taken at my place.

Mother, Bill & Baby Bryan taking a break at the new place.

Cousins

Bryan had the first of many pictures with his cousins today. I really look forward to them growing up together. Patty had the great idea of having pictures taken in their Halloween costumes. We thought we would make it an annual tradition....and hopefully after today, Patty will still want to do that. Jae was a Transformer, I am not sure of the technical name, he would have to tell you that. Jae did not want to wear the front part of his costume, I'm not sure why because I thought it was cool. Hannah was an owl, but not any owl. She was a rare species called a crying owl. Oh....these crying owls do not like their pictures taken! She cried and cried....nothing like our smiling Hannah. Maybe she had a bad vibe from the photographer??? Bryan was Tigger....a sleeping Tigger. I will have to post a photo of all three after Halloween. We did get one of Bryan.

Oh....I forgot Bryan's Halloween socks! I was not about to take the costume off and his outfit off and put the costume back on! Tigger just has shoes now! ;)

Father's Day

The Grunwald/Pollinger/Poirier families celebrated Father's Day yesterday, June 27th so we could all be together. Good times as always. The kids never let us down and always keep things moving for us! :) The women cooked and cleaned for the men since they did the same for us on Mother's Day

Barb & Jake got dad this blanket called a Snuggie. He is always cold...I mean ALWAYS! If he had it his way the house would probably be kept at a toasty 80 degrees. So hopefully this will come in handy this summer when mother has the A/C on. :)

Eric got some yummy candy from Bill & Patty. The kids were hilarious. They sat there staring at him while he ate it. Eric was going to share but mommy said no. After seeing the cutest face ever, Eric was allowed to give Jae a small piece.
Bill, Jae and Anna playing a video game.

Jae was pushing Hannah....then he said hmm...Hannah you push me. They took turns doing this for awhile. Very cute. However, it did not end cute. I recall tears from both parties and the toy having to be removed! LOL!
It was a wonderful Father's Day. I feel lucky to have such a great dad who has taught me and given me so much.

Jake's Bday

We celebrated Jake's bday....30-something a few Saturday's ok. Jake invited a friend and spouse over and we had some good food and yummy cake. A few played Blockus (great game). Jae learned a new hand shake sort of thing from Jake's friend. Here are a few pics.

Mom and Iris

My mom had to go to a rehab place after her knee replacement surgery. Her first roommate was AWFUL!!!! So after a few days she asked for a new room. She was moved to another room and was solo for a few nights. Word came that a new roommate was coming and we all waited hoping it would be someone "normal" and mother's age. She got a lady named Iris who was sooo nice. Her family was nice too. Mom and Iris became buddies and really gave all the nurses & staff a run for their money. Mother had wanted a hat to hide her hair since they really did not do much with it for her and she was limited with what she could do. So we went to the Nike store and father picked this hat out for her. When Iris saw it she wanted one too. So they ended up with matching hats!!!

On my visits before Iris, when I would call to see if mother wanted anything (often the response was a chocolate milk shake), I would bring her one. After Iris was there, it was, "Oh, hey, bring one for my friend Iris too!" I am glad that she was able to meet such a neat lady under these circumstances. The photo below was the day before Iris left to go home. Mother stayed for about one more week and then she got to come home!

Fun time out with the Aunt's and Uncle's!

Bill and Patty got an afternoon and evening to themselves and went out for a movie and dinner. We took the kids to the park. Hannah slept for this part. The walk was longer than I thought but Jae was a trooper! Jae and I got on the tire swing too....Uncle Jake was very helpful with getting the pregnant lady in & out of this tire swing safely! :) Sorry...no photos of that one. We were almost back to our house when Uncle Eric gave Jae a piggy back ride! It was actually the one part that had a small hill! We all made it! Then we did some crafts. Barb helped Jae make a Mother's Day card for Patty with all of Barb's fancy scrap booking stuff. The last stop was Chuck E. Cheese! The three boys managed to get 425 tickets so Jae got a cool lifesaver. After we came home we had some low key time and then the parents were back! It was fun. The kids are always so good!
